Funeral Celebrant

As a qualified Independent Funeral Celebrant, my passion and purpose is to craft and tailor a ceremony that reflects the true character of your loved one. I will work with you to capture the story of their life and sensitively create a service that will also involve family and friends who may wish to share their own words, memories, poetry, or music during the service. Alternatively, I can lead all aspects of the ceremony and the funeral reception according to your wishes.

A life to celebrate

My motivation to become an Independent Funeral Celebrant was sparked after attending the funeral of a dear friend and was left feeling disappointed for the family that there seemed very little said or celebrated about a remarkable and inspiring life.

A funeral should be a deeply poignant and significant moment in the grieving and healing process as we come to terms with our loss, within a community of those who feel and share our pain. But it is also the opportunity to truly celebrate the life of our loved one, to honour and respect their unique story, their character, achievements, foibles, and virtues. A chance to laugh, a time to cry and a moment to personally reflect and give thanks for their role in our own life story, as we navigate the new reality without them in our lives, but always in our hearts.

I may not have known your loved one, but I will take the time to spend with you and your family and friends, to create a truly memorable ceremony that fulfils your wishes, and that rightfully honours the life of your loved one with a personal and meaningful service.

About Me

I am grateful to have enjoyed a professional career in the charity sector for over twenty years. It has been a privilege working with those who are passionate about improving the lives of others and learning humility from people who face unfathomable pain and adversity with dignity and grace. I am inspired by the tenacity and desire of those who work tirelessly to honour the past to make the world a better place for future generations. This has all made for a rewarding life and career.

I’ve always had an abiding interest in the ‘human condition’, starting with a BA Degree in Psychology, continued professional development spanning subjects such as grief counselling, mindfulness, NLP, and more recently qualifying as an animal assisted therapy practitioner, inspired by spending time with my motley crew of alpacas, pygmy goats, chickens and dogs!

And, as a mother to two teenage boys, I do rather enjoy settling down with a good book and glass of wine at the end of the day!
